Common uses

Daivonex is used for help to clean the scaly condition of a skin known as psoriasis. The synthetic form of vitamin D, this prescription is accessible in cream and the form of ointment, and in a liquid to a scalp.

Before using

Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to DAIVONEX or any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet.
Tell your doctor if you
• have kidney or liver problems.
• are suffering from any other illness.
Tell your doctor if you
• are pregnant
• are breast-feeding
• intend to breast-feed.
If you have not told your doctor about any of the above, tell him/her before you start using this medicine.

Directions

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. To use this medicine: apply a thin layer of medicine to the affected area. Rub the medicine in gently and completely. Wash your hands after using this medicine. Store this medicine at room temperature, away from heat and light. Keep the container tightly closed. If you miss a dose of this medicine, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Cautions

Several weeks may pass before your symptoms improve. Continue to use this medicine during that time. Do not get this medicine on your face or in your eyes.
For women: if you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. It is unknown if this medicine is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Daivonex should be used only for psoriasis. If the irritation of a skin develops, stop to use a drug and check with your doctor immediately.

Daivonex is not approved for use in children.

Possible side effects

Daivonex can cause some side effects.
Do not be alarmed by the following list of side effects. You may not experience any of them.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist:
• if you have any unpleasant effects while you are using Daivonex

- a change in the colour of your skin
- your skin is more sensitive to light.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice anything that is making you feel unwell. Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some people.
If you take too much
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
